சமதள சாலைகள், மலைப்பாங்கான கொண்டை ஊசி வளைவுகள் கொண்ட சாலைகள் போன்றவை நமக்கு பரிட்சயம். ஆனால், உலகின் சில சாலைகளும், பாலங்களும் வித்தியாசமும், விசித்திரமும் நிறைந்ததாக உள்ளன. வண்டியை எடுத்தோமா, போக வேண்டிய இடத்துக்கு நேரத்துக்கு போய் சேர்ந்தோமா என்றிருக்கும் நமக்கு இந்த சாலைகள் நிச்சயம் புதுமையாகவே தோன்றும்.

உலகின் நீளமான பாலம்
சீனாவின் டான்யாங்-குன்ஷன் கிராண்ட் பாலம்தான் உலகின் நீளமான பாலம். 164.8 கிமீ., நீளம் கொண்டது.
மற்றுமோர் உயரமான பாலம்
சீனாவில் சிது ஆற்றின் குறுக்கே அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் இந்த பாலம் ஆற்றின் கீழிறிருந்து 1,600 அடி உயரத்தில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த பாலம் 1,222 மீட்டர் நீளம் கொண்டது.
மற்றுமோர் அதிசயம்
மும்பையில் பந்த்ரா-வோர்லியை இணைக்கும் கடல்வழிப் பாலமும் உலகின் விந்தையான பாலங்களில் ஒன்றுதான். 5.6 கிமீ., நீளம் கொண்ட இந்த பாலம் அழகாக வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட பாலமும் கூட. பாலத்தின் அழகை படத்தில் கண்டு ரசியுங்கள். முடிந்தால் மும்பைக்கு செல்லும்போது இந்த பாலத்தை காணத் தவறாதீர்.
தேஸ்பூர் பாலம்
அசாம் மாநிலம், தேஸ்பூரில் பிரம்மபுத்திரா ஆற்றின் குறுக்கே கட்டப்பட்டிருக்கும் இந்த பாலம் 3.15கிமீ நீளம் கொண்டது. விளக்கொளியில் ஜொலிக்கும் இந்த பாலத்தை படத்தில் காணலாம்.
சீன விந்தை
சீனாவின்ஹுனான் மாகாணத்தில் மலை உச்சியில் இருக்கும் டியான்மென் குகைக்குச் செல்லும் இந்த சாலை 99 கொண்டை ஊசி வளைவுகளை கொண்டது. 11 கிமீ நீளம் கொண்ட இந்த சாலை சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளை வெகுவாக கவர்ந்த ஒன்று.
ஆள் ஆரவமற்ற நெடுஞ்சாலை
அமெரிக்காவின் மேற்கையும், கிழக்கு கடற்கரைப் பகுதியையும் இணைக்கும் நெடுஞ்சாலை எண் 50 ஆள் ஆரவமற்ற சாலையாக குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது. அட்லாண்டிக் கடல்பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள மேரிலாண்ட் நகரில் துவங்கும் இந்த சாலை பசிபிக் கடற்கரையோரம் அமைந்துள்ள கலிபோர்னியாவின் சாக்ரமென்ட்டோ நகரை இணைக்கிறது. 4,800 கிமீ நீளம் கொண்ட இந்த சாலையின் இடையில் 657.93 கிமீ தூரத்துக்கு நெவடா பகுதி கடக்கிறது. இதுவே ஆள்ஆரவமற்ற சாலையாக குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது. நெவடா பகுதியில்தான் கார் மற்றும் பைக்குகளில் அதிவேக சாதனைகள் மற்றும் சோதனைகள் செய்யப்படுகிறது.
சூப்பர் வே இன் நார்வே

வளைகுடாவின் வளைவு சாலை

ரோமானியா ஹைவே
1970ம் ஆண்டுகளில் கார்பாதியன் மலைச்சுகரத்தை ரோமானிய துருப்புகள் எளிதாக அடையும் வகையில் அமைக்கப்பட்ட சாலை இது. தற்போது டிரைவிங் செய்வதற்கு ஏற்ற சாலையாக வர்ணிக்கப்படுகிறது. பார்முலா-1 ரேஸிங் சர்க்யூட் போன்று காட்சியளிக்கும் இந்த சாலையை படத்தில் காணலாம்.
பொலிவிழந்த பொலிவிய சாலை
என்னடா இந்த ரோட்டை எதற்காக போட்டிருக்கிறோம் என்று பார்க்கிறீர்களா. விஷயம் இருக்கிறது. 2009ம் ஆண்டு வரை பனிக் கட்டிகளால் சூழப்பட்ட பொலிவியா நாட்டிலுள்ள சகல்டயா மலைதான் இது. புவி வெப்பமயமாதலால் இந்த மலையிலிருந்து பனிக்கட்டிகள் எல்லாம் உருகிவிட்டது. தற்போது குளிர்காலத்தில் மட்டும் பனி படர்கிறது. பொலிவியாவின் பொலிவிழந்த இந்த மலையில் உள்ள ரெசார்ட் ஒன்றிற்கு செல்லும் சாலைதான் இது.
இத்தாலி அழகி
இத்தாலியில் ஆல்ப்ஸ் மலையில் 2757 மீட்டர் உயரத்தில் இருக்கும் இரண்டாவது உயரமான ஸ்டெல்வியோ கணவாய் பகுதிக்கு செல்லும் சாலை இது. 60 கொண்டை ஊசி வளைவுகள் கொண்ட இந்த சாலையை டிரைவிங் செய்வதற்கு ஏற்ற உலகின் சிறந்த சாலைகளுல் ஒன்றாக டாப் கியர் ஆட்டோமொபைல் இதழ் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
உலகின் ஆபத்தான சாலை

பைக்குல ஒரு ரவுண்டு
நியூயார்க் நகரின் அருகே ஓடும் டெலாவர் ஆற்றின் கரையோரத்தில் செல்லும் ஹாக்ஸ் நெஸ்ட் சாலை பைக் ரைடர்களுக்கு ஓர் அற்புதமான சாலை. மணிக்கு அதிகபட்சமாக 88கிமீ வேகத்தில் மட்டுமே இந்த சாலையில் செல்வதற்கு அனுமதி. இயற்கையின் அழகை ரசிப்பதற்கான சிறந்த சாலை.
எழில் கொஞ்சும் சாலை
மலைப்பகுதிகளுக்கு நடுவே அமைக்கப்பட்ட இந்த சாலை தைவானில் உள்ள தரகோ என்ற இடத்தை இணைக்கிறது.
லொம்பார்டு சாலை
சான்பிரான்சிஸ்கோ நகரிலுள்ள லொம்பார்டு தெரு 8 வளைவுகள் கொண்டதாக தோட்டங்களுக்கு நடுவில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அமெரிக்க டிவி ஷோ மற்றும் சினிமாவில் இந்த சாலை அடிக்கடி இடம் பிடிக்கிறது.
கடலழகை ரசிக்க ஓர் சாலை
கிரீஸ் நாட்டின் மத்திய தரைக்கடல் பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள ரான்டேடாஸ் சியோஸ் தீவின் கடலோரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்த சாலை சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளை வெகுவாக கவர்ந்துள்ளது.

You could be a travel junkie or otherwise. You could be travelling for fun or on some business. But a ride or a drive is always made enjoyable if the road you are travelling in is exciting.

Millau Viaduct - France: Worlds Tallest Bridge This bridge that spans the river Tarn has a mast that measures 343.0 metres (1,125 ft) in height from the base of the structure. Besides being the tallest it is also the 12th highest bridge deck in the world, 270 m being the distance between the bridge deck and the ground below.
Atlantic Road Bridge - Norway: This could be counted among the the world's craziest bridges for several reason. For one, the bridge is built on several small islands on the Atlantic ocean and things can get really scary when hurricanes hit, which is pretty regular. Also, when looked at from certain angles a section of the bridge looks like its leading to nowhere. The view is so dramatic that it would convince many to turn back if they did not know better.
Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge - China World's Longest Bridge: This bridge holds the distinction of being the world's longest bridge in any category. Overall length of the bridge is 164.8 kilometres (102.4 miles), which also includes a 9 km span over the Yangcheng Lake.
Sidu River Bridge - China Worlds Highest Bridge: Imagine crossing a deep gorge, nearly half a kilometer deep (1,600 ft). That sensation can only be experienced while crossing this 1,222 meter long bridge.

This eight lane freeway, which connects Bandra in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai with Worli in South Mumbai, may not be the largest or the longest sea bridge in the world, but it is still special since it is the longest in India (5.6 km) and one of the most beautiful.

U.S Highway 50 - U.S.A The Loneliest Road in America: The U.S Highway 50 connects the west and the east coast of country. The highway starts at Ocean City, Maryland on the Atlantic coast and reaches Sacramento, California on the Pacific coast. While the total length of the highway is 4,800 km, it is the 657.93 km stretch that passes through Nevada that is referred to as The Loneliest Road in America. The road cuts through vast stretches of desert and desolated land with almost no sign of civilization. As part of a promotion, the Nevada Commission on Tourism provides visitors with an opportunity to get their passports get a "survived" stamp from the Governor.
Trollstigen - Norway: Trollstigen is a popular tourist attraction. The mountain pass is 850 meters high and upon reaching the top visitors get a spectacular view of the serpentine road they came up and the Stigfossen waterfall.
Spaghetti bowl - Houston, Texas: We'll let the image do the talking. The freeway interchange at Allen and Memorial Parkway is not the best place for any motorist, but it certainly one of the craziest.
Dades Gorge Road - Morocco Dades Gorge in the Atlas: Mountains in Morocco is a popular tourist destination. The beauty of the place lies in the landscape of eroded volcanic rocks. Dades Gorge road is also a good place for off road driving.
Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road - UAE: This 11.7 km long road rises up to 1,219 m and consists of 21 corners and three lanes - two up and one down. Edmunds.com called it the greatest driving road in the world, which actually ends in a parking lot that is part of a hotel and palace complex. Part of the climax scene of the Bollywood movie RACE was shot here.
Transfagarasan Highway - Romania: The highway was constructed to make passage of Romanian troops easier through the Carpathian Mountain range during the 1970s. Now, the highway is considered one of the best driving roads. Viewed from the air the twists and turns make the highway look like the world's largest racing circuit.
Chacaltaya La Paz - Bolivia: The Chacaltaya mountain has an elevation of 5,421 meters and is a popular ski resort. So, why does it look like a desert? The mountain's 18,000 year old glacier melted away in 2009 due to global warming and since then skiing is only made possible during winter seasons.
Stelvio Pass - Italy: At 2757 m, Stelvio pass is the the second highest mountain pass in the Alps. The road consists of 60 hairpin turns. It was termed the greatest driving road in the world by Top Gear.
Yungas Road - Bolivia: It is often called the "most dangerous road" in the world. The North Yungas Road section is considered the most dangerous, characterized by an extremely narrow road, with the cliff face on one side and the deep gorge on the other. A modern, alternate route is now available, but the older route is still used by adventure junkies.
Hindustan-Tibet Highway: The image explains why this highway features in our list. This 480 km long highway passes through Shimla and crosses into Tibet at the Shipki Pass.
Guoliang Tunnel - China: Yet another amazing road from China. This one is in the Taihang mountains of China and measures 1,200 meters long. What makes Guoliang tunnel popular is that it is completely hand built by local villagers. The tunnel measures 5 meters high and 4 meters wide and took five years to complete. The tunnel is the only link the villagers have to the outside world. The tunnel is provided with several "windows" across its length.
Hawks Nest- New York: Hawks Nest Road, so called because of the birds of prey that nest there, is a scenic road, with the view of the Delaware river. The road has a speed limit of 55 mph (88 km/h), but is still a good place to go bike riding.
Taroko Gorge - Taiwan: "Magnificent and Splendid" is what Taroko means, perfectly defining the beauty of the place. The road carved into the mountain passes through the Taroko Gorge National Park.
Lombard Street - San Francisco: This beautiful street has made its appearance in several movies and TV shows and a section of the street consists of eight sharp hairpin turns, with gardens on either side.
Volcanoes National Park Road - Hawaii: Take care unless you want your car tyres to melt. Residents of the area are used to seeing roads blocked by molten lava.
Vrontados Chios Island - Greece: A beautiful island road with a view of the Mediterranean ocean, perfect setting for an enjoyable evening drive.
Canyonlands National Park - Moab, Utah: Perfect off road setting, with a view to die for. Perfect for off road adventurers.
Via Krupp Capri - Italy: The last one in out list is actually a footpath on the island of Capri that connects the Charterhouse of San Giacomo on top of the hill with the Gardens of Augustus some 100 m below.
