பத்தனம்திட்டா நகரிலிருந்து 36 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் பெருந்தேனருவி அமைந்திருக்கிறது. இந்த அருவி 100 அடி உயரத்திலிருந்து ஆர்ப்பரித்துக் கொட்டுவதும், அதன் பிறகு பம்பை நதியுடன் கலக்கின்ற காட்சியும் பயணிகளின் நினைவை விட்டு என்றும் அகலாது. அதோடு இந்த அருவியின் சுற்றைமைப்பு இதை அற்புதமான சுற்றுலாத் தலமாக திகழச் செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

பெருந்தேனருவி என்பதற்கு 'பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடும் தேனின் வெள்ளம்' என்று பொருள். இதன் பெயருக்கு தகுந்தார் போல தேன் அருவியாகவே திகழ்ந்து வரும் இந்த அருவி உலகம் முழுவதிலுமிருந்து ஏராளமான சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளை ஈர்த்து வருகிறது.

இறைவனின் சொந்த நாடு என்று அழைக்கப்படும் கேரள மாநிலத்தின் மிகச்சிறிய மாவட்டமாக பத்தனம்திட்டா மாவட்டம் அறியப்படுகிறது. 1982- ஆம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 1-ல் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட இந்த மாவட்டம் தற்போது கேரளாவின் முக்கிய வணிக மையமாக திகழ்ந்து வருகிறது. இந்த மாவட்டத்தின் பெயர்  'பத்தனம்' மற்றும் 'திட்டா'  ஆகிய இரு வார்த்தைகள் சேர்ந்து உருவானது. இதற்கு 'நதியோரத்தில் கொத்தாக அமைந்திருக்கும் பத்து வீடுகள்' என்று பொருள்.

பத்தனம்திட்டா மாவட்டம் அதன் படகுப் போட்டிகள், ஆலயங்கள் மற்றும் கலாச்சார பயிற்சி மையத்துக்காக புகழ்பெற்ற சுற்றுலாத் தலமாக திகழ்ந்து வருகிறது. அதோடு இந்தியா முழுவதுமிருந்து ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்கள் ஆண்டு தோறும் கூட்டம் கூட்டமாக வந்து செல்லும் சபரிமலை, பத்தனம்திட்டா மாவட்டத்தில்தான் அமைந்திருக்கிறது. இதன் காரணமாக கேரளாவின் யாத்ரீக தலைநகரமாக பத்தனம்திட்டா மாவட்டம் கருதப்படுகிறது.
பத்தனம்திட்டா மாவட்டம் பாரம்பரிய  கலைகளுக்காகவும்,கலாச்சாரத்துக்காகவும் வெகுப்பிரபலம். இந்த மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள கடமநிட்டா தேவி கோயிலில் பத்து நாட்கள் நடைபெறும் படயணி எனும் சம்பிரதாய நடனத்தை காண ஒவ்வொரு கலா ரசிகர்களின் உள்ளமும் ஏங்கும்.
பத்தனம்திட்டா மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள வாஸ்துவித்யா குருகுலம் வாஸ்துக் கலை மற்றும் சுவரோவியங்களை பாதுகாப்பதிலும், அவைகளின் வளர்ச்சியிலும் முன்னோடியாக விளங்கி வருகிறது.
இவைதவிர உலோகக் கலவை கொண்டு தயாரிக்கப்படும் உலகப் புகழ்பெற்ற 'அரன்முளா கண்ணாடி' பத்தனம்திட்டா வரும் சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளிடையே மிகவும் பிரசித்தம். இந்த கண்ணாடியை உருவாக்கும் தொழிற்நுட்பம் குடும்ப ரகசியமாக பாதுகாக்கப்பட்டு இன்று பல சந்ததிகளை தாண்டி அந்த குடும்பத்தை சேர்ந்த கைவினைக்கலைஞர்கள் அதை செய்து வருகின்றனர்.
பத்தமனம்திட்டா மாவட்டத்துக்கு நீங்கள் சுற்றுலா வரும் போது ஸ்ரீ வல்லபா கோயில், மலங்கரா ஆர்தோடக்ஸ் தேவாலயம், குடமன் சிலந்தியம்பலம், கவியூர் மஹாதேவா கோயில் போன்ற இடங்களுக்கு கண்டிப்பாக சென்று வர வேண்டும்.

Perunthenaruvi Waterfall is a picturesque waterfall that cascades in Perunthenaruvi. The place of this waterfall is 36 km away from the town of Pathanamthitta. The waterfall is unites with the Pamba River. The view of water gurgling down from a height of 100 feet to a rocky path and then following into a ravine is really captivating. The beautiful surrounding makes the Perunthenaruvi Waterfall a famous tourist destination. It is also an ideal place for picnicking and outing. This place is a hot favourite among the shutter bugs as well. The stream later merges with the Pamba River. The word "Perunthenaruvi" means "the great stream of honey". The name aptly suits the place as Perunthenaruvi is a hotspot for its waterfalls and attracts many globe-trotters. Thought the height of these waterfalls is not extra-ordinary, the beauty lies in their breadth.

Pathanamthitta is located in the southern part of Kerala. It is the tiniest district in God's Own Country. This district was formed on 1st November 1982 to accelerate the process of development. Now it is a rapidly growing city and business hub. The name of this place is originated from two words "Pathanam" and "thitta. (Together these word means "cluster of ten houses by the river". )

Pathanamthitta is a prominent tourist niche for its boat races, religious shrines and the cultural training centre. It is often called the "Pilgrim Capital of Kerala". It houses Sabarimala, where the abode of Lord Ayappa is situated, where millions of devotees come every year from all over India. Moreover, this place has a rich tradition of art and culture. The rich art includes the famous ten-day-long ritualistic dance called Padayani. It is performed in Kadamanitta Devi Temple. Pathanamthitta is also famous for the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam that aims in preserving and promoting of Vasthuvidya and mural paintings. Another notable local art form is 'Aranmula Kannadi'. It is the making of handmade metal-alloy mirror. The technique of making this mirror is kept as a family secret of the craftsmen and is handed over from generation to generation. Apart from the Sabarimala Temple, you can visit the Sreevallabha Temple, the Malankara Orthodox Church in Parumala, Kodumon Chilanthiyambalam, the Paliakkara Church, Kaviyoor Mahadeva Temple and the statue of the famous freedom fighter Adoor Velu Thampi Deva.
